Hello soccer girls! Here's the first blog, from yours truly. I just want to let you know how excited i am for this season, because i can honestly say we have an AMAZING group of girls on our team. From "THE Erin mcquinn" rocking the middle of the midfield with superstar Alicia...to Alyssa (who totally owned the goalie at our last game). Then we have Syd, Colleen, Mary, and Jill leading as our forwards. Then there's all of our midfielders including Kelsey, Killi, Missy, Maura, Kelly, Bill, Kate and again Colleen. Then there's our powerhouse defense made up of Meg, Annie, Jess Lake and Kristen, lead by Jess Gonzalez. And who could forget the wonderful goalies, Carol and Stef. (plus me but i don't really count! hah!) I'll come back to all you wonderful players in a later post, because its getting quite late today. Here's a little recap of the season thus far- totally rocked our first game against Ignatius. In my book, a total win, no big deal! Second game against Lincoln Way was a 2-0 game for our team. It was awesome to be at those games cheering y'all on! Sorry i missed the game on Saturday, so i cant really comment on that, but I'm sure you all played your hearts out!
Don't worry, this is the first of many many posts to come.. they will not all be summaries of our team...mostly just fun little stories i want to reiterate and to share in case someone missed them. you girls are truly amazing, just so you know!
On to today's practice. may i just say that i think Erin mcquinn got quite the workout from both her handstand obsession and her Irish dancing. (yes she did Irish dance). we learned that Missy is a BEAST at handstands, and legit held it for a minute at least. Mary can do a one handed cartwheel, and Alicia can do the splits. Kristen claims that she "pulled muscles in her stomach" from all the flips she was doing. Syd won in "up and overs" beating me...in my opinion i totally should have won it. Jess Lake wore a super cool neon green headband today in case anyone didn't notice. Stef Burt is kind of a beast in goal. Carol as well. Oh and Kelly needs to play goalie. And Kristen too since it seemed like a good idea for her to legit DIVE for a ball when she was in goal.
I think this is all for now, its getting a little too gossip girl-y for me!
